Overview: Participants will define deficit narratives by reflecting on our work with students and parents; examine the implicit and explicit dialog occurring at the school community and understand how to become allies to dismantle deficit narratives.

Learning Experience

  • Participants will define deficit narratives 
  • Define the effects in the classroom and in our school community. 
  •  We will spend time identifying resources to build a school community that actively disrupts narratives that hinder a safe culture and climate 
  • Build a plan to support an inclusive school.
